The Italy & USA Alba Music Festival, now in its seventh year, is a strong international, cultural project, backed by a strong and growing international consensus and consideration. The Festival is presented annually for an evening at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC, under the auspices and with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute, and was held on this year on April 23 in Washington for its press conference presentation.

The festival will be held for two weeks in  late May, from the 20th to the 30th, located in the city of Alba, and performances will be in theaters, historical churches and outdoor spaces. The summer edition, called “Suoni dalle Colline”, will be held in 18 places in the territory of Langhe e Roero from July, 16 to August, 1, and performances will be in castles, churches, historical winecellars and striking and unusual spaces.

Italy&USA · Alba Music Festival, conceived and directed by Piedmontese Giuseppe Nova, Jeff Silberschlag and Larry Vote, musicians with an International background, has become one of the most anticipated cultural reference points of the season, in addition to having the favor of the national and international press ("Little Spoleto Piedmont" la Repubblica, "Alba, the festival is here!" Specchio, "Alba a tutta musica" Il Secolo XIX, "Making Musica Bella" Maryland Magazine). The festival is included in the program of the City of Alba and is supported by Regione Piemonte, the main Institutions of the territory, and by St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Artistic Program 2010
The Alba Music Festival in its spring edition will start on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 9,00 PM at the Auditorium of the Ferrero Foundation. The program will continue without interruption until May 30th, presenting an average of two concerts per day, from great symphonic repertoire to chamber music to recitals. The highest level musicians, starting with Giuseppe Nova, Jeff Silberschlag and Larry Vote, who in addition to running the festival as Artistic Directors will perform in some concerts. We will find the Romanian State Orchestra, Luxembourg Ni Ensemble, Italian and International soloists, such as Aiman Mussakhajayeva (Kazakhstan), Bruno Canino, John Wallace (Scotland), Miguel and Francisco Cuenca (Spain), Brian Ganz (USA), Suzanne Orban (USA), Josè Cueto (USA), Jon Haas (USA), Eliza Garth (USA), Thomas Hecht (USA), Sibel Kumru (Turkey), Anna Roumiantseva (Russia), Rafael Mirabal (Santo Domingo), Anna Manci, Maria Gloria Ferrari(Switzerland), Antonio Sòria (Spain), Sistema temperado (Santo Domingo), Giampiero Sobrino, Chris Muscat (Malta), and the repertoire will include Verdi's Requiem, John Rutter's Gloria, Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat, with the participation of Michele Di Mauro, Modest Musorgskij's Pictures at an Exhibition, George Crumb's Music for a Summer evening, the great symphonic repertoire of Mahler, Respighi, Schumann, De falla, Chopin piano recitals, Mozart quartets and more. 

Do not miss the events that invigorate the Festival, the traditional afternoon open rehearsals, workshops devoted to jazz that are open to students and professionals Italians, the composition workshop by David Froom, with several international guests and composers from Indiana University, the exhibition of the photographer Bruno Murialdo with the best shots of last year’s festival, the partnership with the Cremona Stradivari Foundation, who will present the instruments winners of the XII Triennial International Contest for Stringed Instruments, as well as the collaboration with other partners, such as the Literature festival Collisioni. The Dominican Republic will be a guest country with the presence of José Rafael Lantigua, Minister of Culture of the Carribbean State for the evening of May 26th dedicated to the Dominican classical and jazz music.

In the same period, the Alba Music Festival will unveil the summer festival of the Provincia di Cuneo, Castelli in Scena, Sunday, May 30th at 4,30 PM at the Abbazia di Staffarda of Saluzzo, with the Romanian State Orchestra and the participation of the harpist Floraleda Sacchi. For this occasion the orchestra will perform with the solo flute of Giuseppe Nova a version of the Inno della Provincia di Cuneo, a piece composed by Enrico Sabena to celebrate the 150 years since Provincia di Cuneo's creation.

Appendix to Alba Music Festival
 will be the evening of Tuesday, June 8th, organized together with the Festival of the Letteratura “Collisioni”. On stage will be a mythical character of Manga literature, the Japonese Riyoko Ikeda, who beyond being the author of Lady Oscar and other famous characters is also an esteemed singer; next to the flute of Giuseppe Nova, artistic director of the Alba Music Festival, the Japanese baritone Yoshitaka Murata and the piano collaboration of Simone Sarno. The concert will take place in the Chiesa di San Domenico in Alba, at 9,00 PM, with free entrance.
