After the tournée in Tuscany (2012) and in Liguria (2015), the Geneva Wind Orchestra "Harmonie Nautique", conducted by Eric Haegi, aims to the public of Alba with an original program that combines sacred pieces (Exultate, jubilate by Mozart and extracts from Fauré's Requiem with the soprano Marie-Hélène Essade), Italian divertissements (Rossini's Cinderella Overture), American music (Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man) and a splendid but rarely performed Sinfonia for harpsichord and wind orchestra by Alexandre Guilmant (French twentieth-century composer), with the participation of Argentine-Swiss organist Diego Innocenzi.
The Harmonie Nautique, after the concert in Turin (on Friday, September 6th, at 9:00 pm at Chiesa di San Giovanni Evangelista), will perform in Alba on Saturday, September 7th, at 9:00 pm in the Tempio di San Paolo, an event organized by Alba Music Festival and Musicando Italy, with the collaboration of the Centro Culturale San Paolo.
Founded in 1883 as a corollary ensemble of sailing regattas, the Harmonie Nautique became a true philharmonic orchestra and the official Geneva Wind Orchestra, performing both in official ceremonies and in symphonic concerts in the the most prestigious hall in the city, the Victoria Hall.
The concert is free entrance.
